Brenden and Calie have known each other since they were kids – their families were backyard neighbors to each other. Throughout their wedding day, it was mentioned multiple times Brenden had a huge crush on Calie for years and kept trying to get together with her. Well, look where we are now! Just getting to know the two of them by taking their engagement pictures and taking their wedding photos I just knew the two of them are the best of friends. The things they said about each other during the ceremony were heartfelt – and yet hilarious at the same time. If I had to choose 2 people that I would say know how to dance life together- it would be Calie and Brenden. They are seriously the best of friends!
The wedding venue they chose was Millenial Falls in Draper, Utah. I see why they chose this venue – it has been around for over 20 years and its style and appeal has stood the test of time. My older sister got married here 20 years ago and I was the flower girl at that wedding. Now having gone back as a wedding photographer I can see that a lot of the things are still the same. They may have changed the carpet and repainted the walls, but the gardens and giant waterfall backdrop are just as beautiful as they were back in 2003.
This venue goes well with the couple’s wedding theme: black and white with a modern hollywood vibe. All of the bridesmaid’s dresses and groomsmen’s suits were black. Their wedding flowers were various white flowers like white roses and white carnations. I feel that Calie and Brenden wanted to have a classy, timeless wedding. What better colors to choose other than black and white? I am sure that when they look back on their photos 20 years from now that their photos will still be in style and look like they were taken yesterday.
Now, Calie’s Father had passed away almost a year ago, and she had little symbols a to have him be part of it throughout the day. For example: Calie has a necklace containing a few of her Father’s ashes in it. So, she wrapped the necklace around her wedding bouquet. Her Mother walked Calie down the aisle – but her Father did too. (My goodness, just writing this makes me tear up.) Because of how special this was, I made sure to get a detailed shot of the necklace with the wedding bouquet and wedding rings. Capturing little details like this on a wedding day may seem small, but it makes a huge difference for couples.
I would describe Brenden and Calie’s wedding as super chill, fun, hilarious, sweet, and memorable. There are a few special things that stood out to me throughout their wedding day. One was that the couple had adopted a dog toether and he was the ring bearer. They even put a cute figure of their dog on their wedding cake and it looked like it was eating the cake (so cute)!
But the main thing that stood out to me at their wedding was that their wedding party was a wedding PARTY! The bridesmaids and groomsmen didn’t just walk down the aisle – they danced down the aisle (literally)! The bride, groom and their bridal party danced and celebrated the whole time and made the whole wedding so fun. Everyone was best friends with each other and I just want to be friends with them all!
I loved seeing how much fun Brenden and Calie had as they celebrated their special day. They were seriously the most fun and chill bride and groom I have ever met on a wedding day. I enjoyed capturing all of the sweet, fun and hilarious moments they had with each other and their loved ones on camera. It was truly an honor to be their wedding photographer! ❤
